painting intuitively

Hmmm...when starting a painting it is so daunting to me to look at that beautiful sheet of white paper...if only i could go back in my mind to first grade art when there was no fear, no worries of what i would create just that pure unmitigated freedom to explore the sheer wonder of this world we are in!! to create without boundaries, judgements or fear!  well try as i might that mantra is exactly what i do...although i must say those little voices do echo in my mind but i do my best to keep that at bay while creating.  There is nothing more magical and freeing than taking a brush and creating markes on paper that have meaning to you.  It is so freeing you become lost in the journey which is what 'art' is all about, my style of painting or drawing is always changing always emerging with something new, i love the process.. i would love to share some of my tips with you as the road unfolds ahead..

This new piece is a beautiful leopard, i am constantly engaged with animals that need a voice...this beauty is from kruger park in south africa i have been watching him for quite some time hes a bit older in cat years but is still beautiful in every respect, I believe his name is Tinguana...

so to begin this painting i began with his eyes...I start all my work with the eyes...to me it's not about a perfect replica of the photo i'm working from its about the soul i hopefully can capture...
to every sentient being there is a soul or spirit that resides within...that is my art...
so on first look the painting may not look like a perfect rendition of the reference..
and to me that's ok
I have painted with all mediums but the unpredictability of watercolor is my favorite..the way the water flows and blooms is the true magic of painting, there are no boundaries, no right or wrong no mistakes...just pure joy

I hope you pick up a brush and start to paint...
